Obituary

Phyllis Grant, 86, nee loving wife of the late Herbert for 55 years; devoted mother of James, Barbara (Robert) Bereskin and Paula (Robert) Spizman; proud and wonderful grandmother of Matthew Grant, Alex Spizman, Hannah Spizman and Jared Bereskin; special daughter of the late Meyer and Evelyn Goldstein and daughter-in-law of the late Jacob and Rose Grabowsky. As a founding family of Congregation B’nai Torah in Highland Park, she was an active member of its Sisterhood, where she developed life long friends. Phyllis received her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching from the University of Illinois, Phi Beta Kappa and Bronze Tablet, and her Master of Arts from Northwestern University. She believed in and demonstrated integrity, loyalty to her family, and a belief in the importance of education. Synagogue service 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe, IL. Interment Shalom Memorial Park, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Northwestern University Department of Athletics, 1201 Davis Street, Evanston, IL 60208, Attention: Christian Williams.
